Peanut and Poppy

My Story

I am a mom to two beautiful little girls here on earth, and to several babies in heaven. I am a wife to a hilarious and compassionate man from a small mountain town in the South, a perfect match for this Southern California girl by birth but small town Carolina girl at heart. I am a daughter to two amazing parents, and a sister to a man that is the definition of polar opposite. I am a marketer and writer by trade, and a woman that has a frightening passion for couponing. Most importantly, I am a new Christian that is head over heels in love with her Savior. A child of Christ that believes in His intricate, beautiful, and perfect plan for my life.

I began this blog to document the antics and memorable moments of “Peanut” (Taylor). At the time, we were preparing for the arrival of our second child, “Poppy”. At 19 weeks pregnant, it was determined that our son would never have a life on earth. Interestingly enough, I was Saved just a week before we were made aware of our baby’s condition. (You can watch my Baptism below.) Perfect timing, right? (Hmmmm, timing.) We then began a three-year process of trying to conceive another child. Through multiple losses, our life changed. It became faith focused. And God’s plan was, and continues to be, revealed piece by piece.

In 2010, we became pregnant again and, this time, we made it past the five-month mark at which we lost our longest pregnancy. All was deemed well with our baby girl, until at 27 weeks pregnant I went into labor. After a series of miraculous events (which you can catch up with here), Aubri arrived home after just five weeks in the NICU. She is healthy, beautiful and hilarious just like her big sister. An amazing gift from above whose path to survival spurred inexplicable growth in our faith.

This blog documents every step of my journey. Every storm. Every success. Every moment of struggle. And every moment of graceful amazement.

This blog acts as my outlet as I praise God for our healthy and miraculous daughters; laugh about the struggles of mommyhood; grieve the loss of my babies; learn to move forward but never forget; strive to be a better mommy, wife and woman; and grow closer to myself, my family and my Savior; all while recognizing and celebrating the miracles that we have been given in this life.

God is good, ya’ll.

I am so glad I found your blog!!!! Your girls are soooo gorgeous! I love those pictures and I can’t wait to dive in your blog now 🙂 You are really great at capturing some funny and awesome moments! My blog is in Hungarian, so you probably won’t understand it 🙂 but I’m glad that I’ve found yours, cuz I have a 6 months old little girl and I always like looking at other (similar age) girls’ life and see what milestones are ahead of us! Keep up the good work, I’ll be back to spend some more time here!
